3. Field Verification: A police constable or officer visits the residential address to verify identity, residence, and character references.
4. Report Generation: The Station House Officer (SHO) submits a verification report through the chain of command.
5. Authority Review: The Controlling Authority reviews the police report before granting or refusing the license.

Timeline Considerations

Police verification typically takes 15–35 days depending on the state, district, and current workload of the police station. In some states, this can extend to 45–60 days. Honest disclosure of any past cases or pending proceedings is critical — concealment discovered during verification is a guaranteed rejection ground.
